Our Story

Haven's Harvest began in 2015 when co-founder Lori and her son Caleb reached out to Trader Joe's to donate excess food. What started as a weekly pickup grew into a robust food recovery program, connecting with various food producers and non-traditional partners like senior and daycare centers. After four years of building partnerships and community connections, the organization officially launched, focusing on reducing food waste and addressing food insecurity in the Greater New Haven area.

Our Impact

In 2022, Haven's Harvest recovered over 1.5 million pounds of food, valued at $3,750,000, preventing over 814,532 pounds of CO2 emissions. The organization serves a wide range of receiving sites, including daycare centers, senior centers, and schools, demonstrating a significant impact on food security and environmental sustainability in the community.
