Our Story
In February 2013, a call from the CNY SPCA changed everything for Skanda. Owner Marion Secor was asked to rescue 14 starving wild ponies from a snowy field. Without hesitation, she accepted. Among them was a blind yearling named Modig, who needed round-the-clock care. For seven days, Skanda provided him with love, nourishment, and support. Despite his suffering, Modig taught the community about trust and resilience. His spirit inspired the creation of The Haven at Skanda, a sanctuary dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating abused and neglected farm animals.
