The Balots faced numerous challenges, including legislative roadblocks, but their determination led to significant changes in state policy, allowing for the establishment of this vital resource.

After successfully lobbying for the necessary licenses, Haven at Blue Creek officially opened its doors to the community. The facility employs a 12-step, self-help approach, emphasizing peer role modeling and self-governance. This unique model not only supports individuals in their recovery journey but also fosters a sense of community and belonging among participants.
