Our Story
In 2006, a diverse group of artists came together in Hamtramck, Michigan, to establish an art center dedicated to Education, Expression, and Exhibition. This initiative blossomed into Hatch: A Hamtramck Art Collective, which achieved 501(c)(3) nonprofit status in 2007. Over the years, Hatch has transformed a historic building, originally a dormitory and later a police headquarters, into the vibrant Hatch Art Center. Since opening the Hatch Art Gallery in April 2012, the collective has become a cornerstone of the community, hosting a full calendar of events and supporting local artists through various programs.
