About Harlem Pride

Founded by Lawrence Rodriguez and Carmen Neely, Harlem Pride began as a celebration to promote the annual pride exhibit at Casa Frela Art Gallery. The idea blossomed into a vibrant community movement, symbolized by the logo representing the Adam Clayton Powell State Office Building, the tallest in Harlem. In 2010, the first Harlem Pride Day Celebration took place, marking a historic moment as the first formal public celebration in Harlem. Over the years, Harlem Pride has expanded its reach, organizing community forums, workshops, and networking events that foster engagement and support for the SGL/LGBTQ community.

Impact of Harlem Pride

Since its inception, Harlem Pride has successfully hosted numerous events that promote community engagement and support for the SGL/LGBTQ community in Harlem. The annual Harlem Pride Day Celebration attracts thousands, creating a space for unity and celebration.
