Transforming Lives Through Lacrosse and Education

Founded in 2008 by Simon Cataldo, Harlem Lacrosse began as a small initiative at Frederick Douglass Academy I in Harlem. As a Special Education math teacher, Simon discovered that engaging students through lacrosse not only improved their athletic skills but also their academic performance. With just eleven students and ten sticks, a powerful movement was born.

Over the years, Harlem Lacrosse has evolved into a holistic youth services organization, dedicated to helping students reach their full potential. By providing mentorship, academic coaching, and lacrosse training, Harlem Lacrosse has successfully served over 1,200 students across New York, Baltimore, Boston, Los Angeles, and Philadelphia.

Since its inception, Harlem Lacrosse has achieved remarkable milestones. Students have maintained a 100% on-time middle school graduation rate and have passed their classes at a rate 20% higher than their peers. Additionally, Harlem Lacrosse alumni have received over $40 million in scholarship offers to prestigious colleges and universities.
