About Happy Tails Pet Sanctuary

Founded in 1993 by Melanie diLuck, Happy Tails Pet Sanctuary is a dedicated no-kill shelter located in Sacramento, California. Inspired by a magazine article on abandoned animals, Melanie and a group of passionate volunteers established the first shelter in the area, focusing on rescuing, nurturing, and providing shelter for abandoned, abused, and homeless cats and dogs. The sanctuary has grown significantly since its inception, now operating from the Patricia L. Holmes Adoption Center, where a team of three staff members and over 200 volunteers work tirelessly to care for these animals.
