Our Story

The Hannah Project began as a heartfelt response to a mother’s plea for help, aiming to prevent her child from dropping out of high school. Founded in 2006 and named after the biblical figure of faith, Hannah, this organization has evolved through the dedication of community activists, educators, and parents. The focus remains on educational equity and cultural empowerment for low-income youth of color.

Impact

With over $450,000 awarded in college scholarships, 37 Hannah scholars have graduated from college, and 8 are now educators. Additionally, 3 graduates are pursuing advanced degrees in STEM fields, while over 700 Freedom School scholars have successfully combated summer reading loss, with 92% achieving significant reading gains.
