Hands On Hartford
EIN: 06-0861268 · Hartford, CT
Our Story
Founded in 1969 as Center City Churches, Hands On Hartford was established by eight congregations in downtown Hartford to help their members put faith into action. Over the years, it has pioneered essential services, including Connecticut’s first supportive housing program for individuals living with AIDS and Hartford’s first soup kitchen. In 2006, the organization became the Hartford affiliate of HandsOn Network, rebranding as Hands On Hartford in 2007. The agency consolidated its services at the Hands On Hartford Center for Community in 2016 and opened Gather55, an inclusive restaurant, in 2022.
