Our Story

Founded in 2004 by Elizabeth Zarkos, Hanaeleh began with the rescue of Cleo, an Arabian horse saved from slaughter. This pivotal moment ignited a passion for equine advocacy and the fight against horse slaughter in the United States.

Our Impact

Hanaeleh rescues horses of all breeds and ages, providing rehabilitation and finding them loving homes. For those who cannot be adopted, a sanctuary is offered, ensuring they live out their days in care and love.
