Our Story
The Hamburg Volunteer Fire Department, established in 1880, has deep roots in the community, tracing back to 1874 when the Village of Hamburg was formed. Initially, firefighting was a community effort, with property owners forming a bucket brigade. Under the leadership of Alex C. Stolting, the first Volunteer Fire Brigade was organized, paving the way for a structured fire department. Over the years, the department has evolved, acquiring advanced fire apparatus and expanding its services to include emergency medical response.
