Our Story
Founded in 2001 by Suzanne Poth, a retired social worker, Halfway to Home began as a heartfelt response to the overwhelming number of homeless and displaced dogs in the Antelope Valley. Starting from her home, Suzanne dedicated herself to rescuing stray dogs, ensuring they received spay and neuter services, and finding them loving homes through local advertisements. In 2003, the organization became a 501c3 nonprofit, and since then, it has expanded to a five-acre property that can shelter up to 75 dogs. With climate-controlled environments, these dogs are protected from the harsh weather conditions typical of the area. On December 23, 2018, Halfway to Home proudly celebrated the adoption of its 7,000th dog, a testament to its unwavering commitment to animal welfare.
