The Haight Ashbury Community Nursery School was founded in 1974 by dedicated parents aiming to create a child-centered, parent-run educational environment. With the support of Diane Feinstein, Grattan Playground became the nurturing home for this innovative school. Under the leadership of Naomi White and later Cocoa Drake, HACNS has thrived, emphasizing the importance of community and parental involvement.
HACNS provides a play-based educational experience for children aged 2.5 to 5, instilling a lifelong love of learning.
