Transforming Lives Through Shelter

The journey of Habitat for Humanity began at Koinonia Farm in Georgia, where the vision of partnership housing was born. Founded by Clarence Jordan and later developed by Millard and Linda Fuller, this innovative concept allows families in need to work alongside volunteers to build their own homes. The first family, Beau and Emma, transitioned from an uninsulated shack to a concrete-block home, showcasing the profound impact of this initiative.

Since its inception in 1976, Habitat for Humanity has expanded its reach, now operating in all 50 states and over 70 countries. With the support of dedicated volunteers and advocates, including former President Jimmy Carter, Habitat has empowered more than 29 million people to achieve strength, stability, and independence through safe, decent, and affordable shelter.
