Our Story

In 1993, Marvin Lunenfeld and Gail McCarthy discovered the beauty of urban gardening during a tour in Chicago. Inspired, they founded Garden Walk Buffalo in 1995, starting with just 29 gardens in the Norwood/West Utica neighborhood. Over the years, GWB has expanded its reach, introducing events and initiatives that beautify the Buffalo Niagara region and foster community connections through gardening.

Our Impact

Garden Walk Buffalo has become a cornerstone of the community, attracting over 60,000 visitors annually to showcase more than 300 gardens. Since 2004, the organization has awarded over $120,000 in beautification grants, significantly enhancing the aesthetic and environmental quality of Buffalo neighborhoods.
