Our Story

Gun by Gun, founded in 2013 in San Francisco by Ian Johnstone and Eric King, arose from personal experiences with gun violence. After losing his father to gun violence, Johnstone dedicated his life to empowering communities to take action against this pressing issue.

Impact

Since its inception, Gun by Gun has successfully removed over a thousand dangerous guns from circulation, creating safer, gun-free homes across California. A 1% reduction in gun ownership correlates to a 0.9% reduction in gun deaths, demonstrating the effectiveness of their buyback programs.
