Our Story

Founded in 2019 by Carolyn Day, a Master Gardener, Growing Hope Gardens emerged from a vision to combat food insecurity. After witnessing the transformative power of edible gardens while volunteering at a local homeless shelter, Carolyn took action by launching a pilot project at The People Concern’s Samoshel Shelter, planting four garden beds to support those in need.

Our Impact

From 2021 to 2023, Growing Hope Gardens has donated over 100,000 pounds of fresh vegetables, fruits, and herbs, creating vital points of service and connection. Remarkably, 7 out of 9 graduates from our unhoused paid internship program have secured permanent housing, achieving an impressive 87% success rate.
