Ground Zero Emergency Training Center
EIN: 47-1789429 · Norman, OK
Our Story
Oklahomans are known for their generosity and resilience, especially in the face of tragedy. The Oklahoma City bombing in 1995 and the devastating tornadoes of 1999 and 2013 highlighted the need for effective emergency response. In response to these events, Barry and Becky Switzer recognized a critical shortage of qualified search-and-rescue dogs. Inspired by the national tragedy of 9/11, they founded the Ground Zero Emergency Training Center to address this urgent need.
Impact
Since its inception, Ground Zero has trained canine and handler teams that have played vital roles in numerous rescue operations, including floods, hurricanes, and missing child searches.
