Our Story

Founded in 2005 by a passionate group of friends from North Carolina, Ground UP Productions has dedicated itself to creating high-quality theatrical experiences in New York City and beyond. Over the past 17 years, the organization has produced 28 full-scale productions, including 9 original works, with several published by renowned publishers like Samuel French and Dramatists Play Service. Ground UP Productions is committed to fostering new talent through initiatives like the From the Ground UP… New Works Reading Festival, which showcases emerging playwrights each winter.

Impact

Ground UP Productions has garnered critical acclaim, receiving numerous nominations for New York Innovative Theatre (NYIT) Awards and positive reviews from prestigious outlets such as The New York Times. The organization also runs The UnderGround Project, an educational outreach program that connects students from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with professional opportunities in the arts.
