Our Story
The Groton Public Library has been a cornerstone of the Groton school district since its charter in 1896. Established through the generosity of local physician Dr. Miles Goodyear, who bequeathed funds in memory of his mother, the library was designed by renowned architect William Henry Miller and completed in 1917. Over the years, the library has adapted to the growing needs of the community, with significant expansions in 1981 and again in Fall 2021. The latest addition features a new teen room, event space, and a community pantry, ensuring that the library remains a welcoming and resourceful hub for all residents.
