Our Story

Founded in 2006 by Swiss native Andreas Hoffmann, Green Light New Orleans began as a vision to assist in the sustainable rebuilding of New Orleans while offsetting the pollution from his touring band. What started as one man’s 'light bulb moment' has evolved into one of the largest energy efficiency programs in the city. Through innovative direct installation, Green Light New Orleans guarantees significant reductions in energy consumption, emissions, and utility costs, fostering a greener community.

Impact

Green Light New Orleans has successfully engaged 16 percent of all households in New Orleans, distributing energy-efficient light bulbs, building backyard vegetable gardens, and providing rain barrels. These initiatives contribute to environmental sustainability and enhance community resilience.
