Our Story

The Greater Spokane Substance Abuse Council (GSSAC) was founded in 1982 by community leaders to address the growing issues of drug abuse and violence in the Spokane region. As a certified 501(c)(3) nonprofit, GSSAC is dedicated to fostering a safer community through collaborative prevention strategies.

Impact

GSSAC has garnered national recognition for its effective prevention initiatives, including a prestigious award from the Office of National Drug Control Policy for its work on Tribal Lands. With a remarkable 88% success rate in DUI education programs, GSSAC has trained thousands of community members to combat substance misuse.
