Our Story

The Greater New Haven Cat Project, Inc. was founded in 1996 by passionate animal welfare activists to tackle the issue of stray and feral cat overpopulation in low-income neighborhoods of New Haven, Connecticut. Since becoming a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 1998, GNHCP has dedicated itself to enhancing the lives of stray, abandoned, and feral cats through effective trap/neuter/return (TNR) programs and community education initiatives.

Our Impact

With a commitment to animal welfare, GNHCP has successfully assisted over 5,926 feral cats through its TNR program and spayed/neutered 628 cats and kittens in 2023 alone. This vital work significantly contributes to managing feral cat populations and improving their overall welfare in the Greater New Haven area.
