Our Story

The Greater Columbus Arts Council (GCAC) has been a cornerstone of the arts community in Columbus since its inception in 1973. Evolving from the Columbus Arts Council formed in 1960, GCAC was established to broaden support for arts organizations beyond the major institutions previously funded by the city. Today, GCAC supports hundreds of arts organizations and individual artists, fostering artistic expression and cultural development throughout the region.

Impact

In 2023, GCAC made a remarkable impact by supporting over 4.5 million attendees at arts events, awarding 110 organization grants, and providing assistance to 1,158 artists, totaling over $16 million in grants. This highlights the council's vital role in enhancing the cultural landscape of Columbus.
