In November 1982, at the request of then-Mayor Leonard Paoletta, City Clerk Catherine Brannelly gathered a small group of local Irish community members. This meeting sparked the creation of the First Annual Greater Bridgeport St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 17, 1983. Over the years, the parade has expanded significantly, introducing scholarships and cultural activities that celebrate Irish heritage.
