Founded in 1984 by Drs. Guthrie, Hume, and Nesmith, Great Plains Diabetes Research, Inc. is dedicated to enhancing diabetes education and supporting Kansas researchers. In 2014, the organization expanded its mission by opening a clinic under the leadership of Belinda Childs, providing comprehensive care for individuals and families affected by diabetes.
Great Plains Diabetes has successfully provided expert diabetes care to over 300 patients, including those who are uninsured and underinsured. The organization is proud to be certified by the American Diabetes Association as a Recognized Education program.
