Welcome to Great Lakes Rabbit Sanctuary

Since 1995, Great Lakes Rabbit Sanctuary (GLRS) has been dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating abandoned, abused, and neglected rabbits. Originally known as PigHoppers, the organization shifted its focus in 2003 to address the overwhelming need for domestic rabbit care in Michigan and beyond. GLRS rescues rabbits from across the state and, when possible, from other areas of the United States.

Our Mission

At GLRS, every rabbit receives the medical care they need, including spaying and neutering, before being placed for adoption. For those rabbits who are not suitable for adoption due to health or temperament, they are provided a loving, no-kill sanctuary for the rest of their lives.
