Our Story

The Grateful Crane Ensemble was founded in 2001 to honor the unique hardships and contributions of Japanese Americans through music and theater. Initially established to give back to Japanese American elders at the Keiro Retirement Home in Los Angeles, this nonprofit theater company has expanded its reach, performing across the United States and internationally.

Impact

Grateful Crane Ensemble has successfully engaged diverse audiences, including seniors and youth. The organization has received grants to support initiatives like concerts for caregivers and memory-enhancing performances for seniors with dementia, while also conducting goodwill tours to Japan.
