Our Story
Founded in 1975, the Grassland Heritage Foundation (GHF) is dedicated to preserving the rich heritage of prairies in northeast Kansas. Early initiatives included the Konza Fence Project and native landscaping at Kansas City International Airport. In 1983, GHF acquired The Prairie Center, a 300-acre park with 45 acres of virgin prairie, ensuring its protection for public recreation and education. Through partnerships, GHF has expanded its reach, providing educational activities such as family events, prairie walks, and lectures.
