Grand Rapids Pride Center
EIN: 38-2843265 · Grand Rapids, MI
Our Story
Returning from the March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights in 1987, a passionate group from West Michigan set out to create a safe and inclusive space for the LGBTQ+ community. This journey ignited a spark of determination to promote pride, security, and belonging. From humble beginnings with casual meetings in homes, the group evolved into the Grand Rapids Pride Center, hosting the city’s first Pride Celebration in 1988. Over the years, the organization has grown, moving to its current location on Atlas Ave in 2003, and has taken bold steps to advocate for equality and inclusivity.
