Our Story
The Grand Rapids Children’s Museum first made its debut as a museum 'without walls' in August 1993 at Woodland Mall. Featuring two exhibits, Funstruction and Bubbles, Bubbles, Bubbles!, the museum successfully exposed over 30,000 children and their families to hands-on exploration and learning. The excitement led to the establishment of a permanent home at 11 Sheldon Avenue in 1994, following a successful capital campaign that raised $4 million for renovations. Since opening in the summer of 1997, the museum has welcomed over 3 million guests, providing a vibrant space for children to learn and play.
