Founded in the summer of 2020, Gotham Food Pantry emerged to combat the rising food insecurity caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Initially bridging the gap between major food rescue organizations and local feeding initiatives, the organization has expanded its mission to establish food rescue operations in high-need areas, particularly within public housing developments across New York City.
Since Fall 2020, Gotham Food Pantry has distributed over 350,000 meals and 4,000,000 pounds of food to individuals and families facing food insecurity in NYC. Collaborating with various organizations and community groups has amplified these efforts.
