Goodwill South Texas
EIN: 74-1223056 · Corpus Christi, TX
Our Story
Founded in 1902 by Reverend Edgar J. Helms in Boston, Goodwill began as a social innovation aimed at helping those in need. Helms collected used goods from wealthier neighborhoods, trained individuals facing poverty to repair them, and then resold these items. This model of providing a "hand up, not a hand out" has evolved over the years. In 1948, the vision expanded to South Texas, where a group of Lions Club members recognized the need for Goodwill's services. Today, Goodwill Industries of South Texas serves 20 counties, continuing the mission of transforming lives through work.
