Founded in 1902 by Rev. Edgar J. Helms, Goodwill Industries began as a social innovation to help those in need. By collecting used goods and providing job training, Goodwill created a sustainable model of empowerment. In 1964, Goodwill Industries of South Central California opened its first retail store in Bakersfield, continuing this legacy of support and opportunity.
