Our Story

Founded in 1959, Goodwill Industries of Northeast Texas carries forward the vision of Rev. Edgar J. Helms, who established Goodwill Industries in 1902. This organization is dedicated to providing employment and training opportunities for individuals with disabilities or disadvantages. Starting with just 8 employees, Goodwill has grown to employ over 3,000 individuals, helping them achieve independence and dignity through meaningful work.

Impact

In 2023, Goodwill Industries of Northeast Texas employed 693 individuals, primarily those facing disabilities or disadvantages. The organization successfully diverted over 13 million pounds of unwanted goods from landfills, while also providing over $100,000 in assistance for rent and utilities to the community.
