Our Story

Goodwill of Greater Grand Rapids was founded in 1966 to serve the community by providing job training and placement opportunities. Following the philosophy of 'a hand up, not a hand out,' established by Rev. Edgar J. Helms, the organization transforms lives through meaningful employment.

Impact

Each year, Goodwill provides 1,498 employment opportunities and serves an average of 1,575 participants. By recovering over 4 billion pounds of used goods, it not only helps individuals but also reduces landfill waste.

Why Donate?

Your donations support vital job training and placement services, with 90% of every dollar spent in stores going directly to these programs. Help individuals overcome barriers to employment and achieve self-sufficiency.
