Our Story

In the mid-1900s, a young couple faced an unimaginable decision when they learned their son had a mental disability. With no modern medical solutions available, a doctor suggested they give him up to a home. Distraught, they sought comfort from Pastor Harold “Swede” Johnson, who, unable to console them, dedicated his life to advocating for the disability community. In 1970, he founded The Good Shepherd Fund, a nonprofit organization committed to improving the quality of life for vulnerable minors and adults.

Our Impact

For over 50 years, The Good Shepherd Fund has provided life-changing support services to enhance the quality of life for aging adults and persons with disabilities. Last year alone, thanks to the generosity of donors, over $49,000 in pro bono services were provided to trust beneficiaries and care clients.
