Our Story
The Good Samaritan Agency, founded in 1902 in Bangor, Maine, was established by a group of dedicated women from thirty local churches, inspired by businessman Robert Jordan. As the first independent adoption agency in Maine, it has evolved over the years to provide essential services for single, pregnant women and their families. The agency transitioned from residential care to supporting independent living and adoption services, and in 1984, it launched the Teen Parent Education Program to help young mothers complete their education while offering childcare. In 1999, the agency expanded its childcare services by moving to a larger facility.
