Our Story
The Good Neighbor Alliance (GNA) was founded to address the critical gap in services for homeless individuals and families in Sierra Vista and surrounding areas. Initiated by Pastor J. David Barkley and the Sierra Vista United Methodist Church, GNA became a 501c3 nonprofit organization in September 1998. Since opening the doors of Samaritan Station, a nighttime shelter, in January 2003, GNA has expanded its services to include a Day Program launched in 2022, ensuring that guests have a safe place to stay during the day. The establishment of a commercial kitchen in December 2005 has allowed GNA to provide over 15,000 meals to both shelter guests and unsheltered community members, showcasing the commitment to serving those in need.
