Our Story

In 1951, a devastating fire at the Dover Baptist Church ignited a community's resolve to establish a fire protection service. Earl H. Henley and twenty dedicated men formed the Dover-Pembroke Fire Department Volunteer Association, laying the foundation for what is now the Goochland County Fire-Rescue Department. Over the decades, this organization has expanded, integrating both volunteer and career personnel to enhance emergency response capabilities.
