Our Story

The Golden State Land Conservancy was founded in 2000 by Bob Whitney, aiming to create a responsive conservation organization within the community-based land trust movement. Over the past 23 years, GSLC has built strong relationships with landowners, leading to the protection of over 35,000 acres of land in California.

Our Impact

Currently, GSLC safeguards 35,000 acres through 71 projects, enhancing forest carbon sequestration, protecting species habitats, and ensuring public access to natural areas.
