The founders recognized the staggering amount of food—estimated at 300 million pounds—going to waste annually and sought to make a difference. Within six months, the organization was operational, distributing over 75,000 pounds of food in its first year.

Now located at 1326 30th Street in Bakersfield, Golden Empire Gleaners has grown significantly, serving an average of 7,500 individuals each month. In the past year alone, the organization distributed nearly 2 million pounds of food, impacting the lives of over 200,000 residents. The Gleaners operates solely on donations and grants from the community, ensuring that 100% of funds raised stay within Kern County to support local families in need.
