Go Near Ministry began its journey in 2005 when Melody Taylor and her husband, Lewis, felt a divine calling to serve the impoverished communities of inner-city Little Rock. Inspired by the teachings of James 1:27, they dedicated their lives to caring for orphans and widows, both locally and abroad. Their mission expanded as they led teams to Guatemala, but it was in 2010 that a significant shift occurred. The Taylors moved to Nairobi, Kenya, where they witnessed firsthand the overwhelming poverty faced by many.

In Kenya, the Taylors embraced a new calling, one that would allow them to make a more profound impact. They recognized that the needs of the Kenyan people were vast and required a collective effort. This realization led to the mobilization of over 400 volunteers who have since served in various missions across Africa, including Rwanda, Sao Tome, and Tanzania. Some volunteers have even committed to full-time missionary work, while others have established nonprofits in the U.S. to advocate for the marginalized.

In addition to their mission work, Melody has launched initiatives like the nonprofit thrift boutique, Shop My Closet, and Beautiful Lives Thrift Boutique, which support nonprofits serving marginalized women both locally and globally. Through these efforts, Go Near Ministry continues to be a beacon of hope, empowering individuals to take action and share the love of Jesus.
