Transforming Lives Through Recovery

Founded two decades ago, the Global Recovery Initiatives Foundation (GRI) began as the Sobriety High Foundation, pioneering the first recovery high schools in Minnesota. This groundbreaking initiative inspired the establishment of collegiate recovery programs, now thriving on over 300 campuses nationwide. Evolving into the National Youth Recovery Foundation, GRI has engaged young people in creating peer-driven recovery programs, including the successful Young People in Recovery (YPR) initiative.

In collaboration with recovery advocate Christopher Kennedy Lawford, GRI has expanded its mission to unite public and private efforts, leveraging support from pop culture leaders to assist individuals in sustaining their recovery journeys. Codified in 2019, GRI's board comprises experts from diverse fields, enhancing its capacity to drive impactful change.

Making a Difference

The 2022 White House National Drug Control Strategy emphasizes recovery as a vital response to substance use disorder (SUD) and the national overdose crisis. GRI serves as a clearinghouse for grassroots movements, connecting employers, advocates, and service providers to promote recovery in the workplace.
