Our Story

Global Ocean Health was founded in 2006 by fisheries journalist Brad Warren, who recognized the devastating effects of ocean acidification on communities reliant on healthy seas. By uniting fisheries experts, scientists, and conservationists, this organization empowers fishermen and seafood growers to combat the challenges posed by changing ocean conditions.

Impact

With over $100,000 raised, Global Ocean Health has supported crucial monitoring efforts for shellfish growers, safeguarding 3,200 jobs by preventing exposure of young livestock to harmful waters. The establishment of Washington’s Blue Ribbon Panel on Ocean Acidification has further advanced policies aimed at reducing pollution and protecting marine resources.
