In 1990, after the fall of Nicolae Ceausescu in Romania, the founders of the Smiles Foundation, Kevin Hoy and Nia Jones, witnessed the dire conditions in state orphanages. They were determined to return and make a difference. Established in 1997, the foundation focuses on alleviating poverty and promoting education through various impactful projects.

Impact

The Smiles Foundation has invested over £1.5 million and $2 million annually to support disadvantaged children, families, and the elderly in Romania. Their efforts have led to the establishment of schools, care facilities, and community centers, significantly enhancing the quality of life for many.
