Our Story

In 2005, the Global Alliance for Rabies Control (GARC) was founded to combat the rising toll of rabies deaths in Africa and Asia. Despite the availability of effective tools to eliminate rabies, thousands continued to suffer in neglected communities. Frustrated by the lack of collaboration among international stakeholders, a leading rabies scientist established GARC to foster partnerships and raise awareness. Today, GARC stands as the leading international nonprofit organization dedicated to ending dog rabies worldwide.

Our Impact

Rabies is a neglected tropical disease that claims a life every 9 minutes. However, it is entirely preventable. With just USD3, a vaccine can be purchased to protect a dog, making dog vaccination the most effective strategy to eliminate this deadly disease. GARC's science-led approach and commitment to collaboration between animal and human health are central to its mission.
