Support for Girls Education

Empowering Young Girls Through Arts-Based Education

Founded in 2009, Girls First of Norristown began as a vision to support young girls in their academic and personal growth. Originally known as St. Augustine Academy, this initiative was born from the outreach efforts of St. David's Church in Radnor. With the help of a successful fundraiser, the program launched as a tuition-free, non-religious after-school initiative, initially serving second graders one day a week. Over the years, Girls First has expanded its offerings, now providing a comprehensive arts-based curriculum that includes visual arts, music, dance, drama, creative writing, and culinary arts.

Making a Lasting Impact

Girls First is dedicated to addressing the challenges that hinder successful classroom learning. The Artsee curriculum integrates academic, artistic, and social-emotional learning through engaging weekly classes. With a structured 10-week session format, students rotate through various artistic disciplines, ensuring a well-rounded educational experience. Collaborating with community partners enhances the program's reach and effectiveness, allowing Girls First to serve a diverse group of students.
