Empowering Girls Through Adventure
Joanne “Jo” Westphal's journey with Girl Scouts began in second grade and has flourished into a lifelong commitment to empowering young girls. Her cherished memories of camping, canoeing, and forming friendships at Camp Alice Chester have shaped her into the confident leader she is today. Jo's experiences instilled in her a love for nature and a passion for conservation, leading her to a successful career in landscape architecture, a field traditionally dominated by men.
Through Girl Scouts, Jo learned invaluable skills such as critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership. These lessons have guided her throughout her life, inspiring her to dream big and embrace challenges. Today, Jo is dedicated to giving back to the community that has given her so much. She actively supports camp experiences, ensuring that the next generation of girls can enjoy the same outdoor adventures that shaped her life.
