Breast Cancer Research

Our Story

In 1994, Kathy O’Shea initiated an all-women softball tournament to support the Y-Me National Breast Cancer Organization, inspired by breast cancer survivor Alderman Ginger Rugai. This event has expanded from 8 teams to an impressive average of 60 teams each year, raising nearly $1 million for vital breast cancer research, particularly funding Dr. Kay Macleod’s groundbreaking work at the University of Chicago Medicine.

Impact

The Y-Me Softball Tournament has raised almost a million dollars for breast cancer research, directly funding individual researchers and supporting the fight against breast cancer.
